Anika and Pepichek are two poor children whose mother is ill. Obeying the doctor's prescription they have to find milk for her, but they have no money. They try to raise money by singing in the streets, but a street organist called Brundibár, considers them a threat to his business, and in a violent way does his best to get rid of them.
